Want to contribute to green steel production? Our 1,500 football fields of industrial site are transforming from coal to hydrogen-based steelmaking. As an R&D intern, you’ll investigate how this impacts our vital refractory materials!

Ready to dive into groundbreaking research? We’re developing new hydrogen-based production installations that will revolutionize steelmaking. Your research will help ensure these installations operate safely and efficiently by understanding how their materials behave under extreme conditions.

As an R&D intern at Tata Steel…

• You’ll work with state-of-the-art equipment. You’ll commission and operate our new dilatometer to study thermal expansion in refractory materials.
• You’ll develop standardized procedures. Your measurement protocols will become the foundation for future research in this field.
• You’ll collaborate with PhD researchers. As part of an EU-funded project, you’ll work alongside doctoral students investigating hydrogen-based steelmaking.
• You’ll make a real impact on sustainability. Your research directly contributes to our goal of reducing CO2 emissions by 35-40% by 2030.

You combine analytical thinking with practical problem-solving skills. You work methodically and pay attention to detail. Furthermore: 

• You are pursuing an MSc degree in Materials Science, Applied Physics, or a related field.
• You are available for 4-6 months
• You have good written and verbal communication skills in English.

You’ll get your own workspace and an experienced supervisor to help you make the most of your internship.
