Based on a solid legacy SOTAS at its core is a voice communications solution used by the crews of military vehicles (e.g. armored personnel carriers or battle tanks) during their missions. SOTAS is recognized for its highly reliable operation by our customers around the world many of whom we at Thales have been serving for decades.

Similar to the integration of telephony systems with networked computing technologies in the commercial markets SOTAS is now expanding its horizon to support the next generation integrated mission systems primarily in vehicles.

Teamlead (HoD) System Engineering

who as a member of the SOTAS System Engineering Team at Thales Huizen is eager to contribute to the realization of this vision.

About your future job

Within the SOTAS System Engineering Team we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented System Engineer to lead our engineering team in structuring and managing information and knowledge essential for the design and development of innovative products and systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of system engineering principles and be skilled in organizing data in a logical and accessible manner.

Given the nature of the SOTAS products and systems a multidisciplinary approach is essential to achieve the reliability on which the crew of a military vehicle depends to accomplish their missions.

The SOTAS System Engineering Team applies the agile principles for its development activities.

Your primary responsibilities include:

• Collaborating with engineering teams to gather organize and synthesize technical information for product system design and development

• Own and enforce adherence to Thales processes driving continuous process improvement.

• Plan and prioritize Systems Engineering tasks effectively.

• Develop and maintain searchable databases and documentation capturing lessons learned best practices and methodologies.

• Organize engineering documentation in a logical framework for easy access and future use.

• Regularly review and update knowledge management content to ensure accuracy and relevance.

• Support development of tools and resources that improve engineering efficiency.

• Provide and support knowledge sharing through workshops and training sessions.

• Provide project teams with information and resources to support timely decision-making and problem-solving.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align documentation and technical information sharing.

• Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related field (Master preferred).

• Proven experience in system engineering or related technical roles with a strong emphasis on knowledge management.

• Experience in leading a small (growing) team

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Proficient in using database management and documentation tools.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills capable of working collaboratively with diverse teams.

• Familiarity with engineering design processes and standards.

• You have a synthetic and helicopter view of the organization and can share the big picture
