UX/UI Designer

Welcome to Tap Electric. Tap is an e-mobility startup based in the heart of Amsterdam, connecting drivers to chargers for seamless EV charging. Our mission is to deliver a brilliant driver experience at the intersection of grid and mobility.

We’re looking for a UX/UI Designer to help shape how drivers, charger owners, and installers experience Tap across our mobile and web products. You’ll work closely with our Flutter engineers, growth marketing team, and founders to design intuitive, scalable experiences that support rapid growth.

This is a hands-on role with real impact: your work will ship quickly, be measured in the real world, and directly influence how the business grows.

What you’ll be doing

• Designing end-to-end UX/UI for our mobile app and web applications
• Owning the design of our website and treating it as a key growth lever — from messaging and conversion to experimentation and iteration
• Working closely with Flutter engineers to ensure designs are feasible, well-implemented, and polished in production
• Owning and evolving our design system, ensuring consistency while enabling speed
• Partnering with growth marketing to design and iterate on experiments across onboarding, activation, conversion, and retention
• Rapidly prototyping, testing, and iterating on ideas based on data, feedback, and business goals
• Collaborating with founders and product to turn strategy into clear, elegant user experiences
• Advocating for the user while balancing business, technical, and operational constraints

About you

• You have ~5 years of experience as a UX/UI or Product Designer
• You have a mastery of Figma (components, variants, auto layout, library management, variables & tokens — the works)
• You deeply understand how to build, maintain, and scale design systems
• You’re comfortable designing for experimentation and rapid iteration, not just “perfect” end states
• You’re highly collaborative and enjoy working closely with engineers, marketers, and founders
• You take ownership and bring your own ideas and initiatives to the table
• You’re excited by early-stage environments where things move fast and priorities evolve

Nice to haves

• Experience designing mobile-first products (especially consumer apps)
• Experience designing marketing or growth-focused websites
• Familiarity with Flutter or designing for cross-platform systems
• Experience working in startups or scale-ups
• Comfort using data, user feedback, and experimentation results to guide design decisions

A bit more about Tap

Tap was founded in late 2020 by two charging software veterans, Nico and Dan, who saw that the charging UX for EV drivers was broken. They bootstrapped their way to building 2 key products: a driver app that enables really simple payments on a huge network of chargers; and a platform for charger owners and installers to manage their chargers and collect payments. Tap is live in the Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland and the UK with tens of thousands of satisfied users (our 4+ App store ratings prove it).
