For a modern gastropub in the Plantage district of Amsterdam East, we are looking for a Sous Chef who enjoys helping to build a strong kitchen operation. You'll support the Head Chef, lead the kitchen team during service, contribute to new menu ideas, and help maintain high standards every day. Salary: €2,800 – €3,000 gross per month Hours: 38 hours per week About the venue You'll be joining a modern gastropub where the atmosphere is relaxed, but the food and drinks are taken seriously. Guests visit for a cold beer on the terrace, a quality bottle of wine with a cheese board, an extensive dinner, or cocktails later in the evening. Great food, genuine hospitality, and quality beverages are at the heart of the concept. The role As Sous Chef, you are the right hand of the Head Chef and play an important role in the day-to-day management of the kitchen. You help lead the team, maintain consistency and quality, and contribute to the development of a menu that changes every three months. What will you do? Lead and support the kitchen team during daily operations. Contribute to the development of the seasonal menu. Ensure consistent quality and presentation of all dishes. Manage purchasing and stock levels. Receive and check deliveries. Maintain a clean and organised kitchen. Identify maintenance issues and operational improvements. Work efficiently with a strong awareness of food costs. Ensure health and safety procedures are followed. Help maintain HACCP standards and food safety compliance. Who are you? You have proven kitchen management experience or are ready to take the next step in your career. You are available to work 38 hours per week; a four-day working week is negotiable. You have an affinity for international cuisine and enjoy thinking creatively. You communicate clearly and work well within a team. You have a genuine passion for hospitality.
