R&D Export Control Architect (Hardware)

As an R&D Export Control Architect (Hardware), you help shape the future of advanced semiconductor technology. You ensure that ASML’s breakthrough hardware designs meet global export‑control regulations from the start. Your work enables engineers to innovate safely while protecting sensitive technology and supporting ASML’s long‑term mission.

In this role, you guide how export‑control requirements are embedded across engineering, product development and data management. You translate complex regulations into clear processes, structures and design choices. You create the standards, guardrails and frameworks that help teams work confidently within global rules.

Key responsibilities include:

• Translate export‑control regulations into practical process, data and functional requirements.
• Define end‑to‑end process architectures and capability maps.
• Set the target operating model and compliance‑by‑design standards.
• Review solution proposals and challenge design choices when needed.
• Provide guidance for document management and secure data‑sharing solutions.
• Partner with hardware engineering teams to embed export‑control decisions in product architecture.
• Contribute to the export‑control framework, including control design and risk assessments.

You bring a solid foundation in regulating complex technology environments and translating rules into workable solutions.
Your background includes:

• A master’s degree in engineering, information management, business administration, compliance or a related field.
• At least five years of experience in process design, information management, compliance or business architecture.
• Experience interpreting regulations such as U.S. EAR or EU Dual‑Use and turning them into system or process requirements.
• Exposure to complex hardware or product development environments.
• Experience with Product Lifecycle Management tools such as Siemens Teamcenter.
• Familiarity with Agile ways of working is a plus.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
