Digitalization IoT Engineer

Location: Schiedam (Hybrid) 3 x a week onsite

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated Digitalization IoT Engineer to join an innovative engineering team working at the forefront of offshore energy technology.

In this role, you will enable reliable and secure data flow between offshore equipment and cloud-based applications. You will work hands-on with edge devices, industrial control systems, and cloud infrastructure to support connected, intelligent offshore operations.

This position sits at the intersection of Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT), making it ideal for someone who enjoys both industrial systems and modern digital platforms.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Configure and maintain Linux-based edge devices that collect data from offshore control systems (e.g., cranes, motion systems, heavy equipment).
• Validate, map, and manage operational data for secure transfer to cloud platforms.
• Troubleshoot OT/IT connectivity issues across edge, network, and cloud environments.
• Automate deployments and system configurations using tools such as Ansible.
• Support internal teams and customers with data integration and system setup.
• Participate in Agile development sprints with international, multidisciplinary teams.
• Contribute to architectural improvements and system design discussions.
• Apply cybersecurity best practices across all configurations and deployments.
• Occasionally travel offshore to support commissioning or troubleshooting activities.

What We’re Looking For

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related technical field.
• 1-3 years of experience in engineering, IT, automation, or industrial systems.

Technical Skills

• Solid knowledge of Linux administration.
• Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, routing, firewalls).
• Interest or experience in scripting and automation.
• Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms.
• Exposure to Git workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and basic SQL.
• Experience with Ansible or similar automation frameworks is a plus.
• Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals.

Nice to Have

• Experience with industrial control systems, SCADA, or edge devices.
• Knowledge of IoT data flows or industrial digitalization concepts.
• Exposure to offshore, maritime, or energy environments.
