Analytics Engineer - Data & Semantic Modeling - Temporary

Are you an experienced Analytics Engineer looking for an impactful 5-month assignment? We're seeking a skilled professional to help our client build a stronger analytical foundation for their Sourcing data. This role is central to modernizing analytical data models, ensuring greater consistency in metric definitions, and paving the way for more scalable analytics and self-service capabilities. You'll be instrumental in implementing a new semantic layer, a crucial step in creating a trusted and unified data landscape. You'll also review, refactor, and migrate existing data models to align with new standards. This is a hands-on engineering opportunity focused on data modelling, semantic modelling, and analytical infrastructure. You'll directly contribute to making analytical context more accessible, understandable, governable, and reusable across the Sourcing domain.

This Product Analyst role focuses on building and refining the foundational data assets that other analysts rely on, rather than directly interacting with business stakeholders. You'll be instrumental in ensuring the data is accurate, well-defined, and easily accessible for analytical purposes. Your key responsibilities will be:

• Migrate and refactor existing data models to align with target architecture and standards.
• Design and implement a semantic layer for consistent business definitions and metrics.
• Collaborate with Product Analysts to translate their needs into robust data models.
• Partner with Analytics Engineers to ensure adherence to engineering standards.
• Improve the quality, performance, and documentation of analytical assets.
• Contribute to establishing data modelling best practices.
• Participate in code reviews and identify opportunities for simplification.

• Strong dbt Experience: Proficient in using dbt for data transformation and modeling.
• Advanced SQL Skills: Demonstrated expertise in writing complex SQL queries for data analysis.
• Analytical Data Modeling & Semantic Layer Design: Experience in building and designing analytical data models and semantic layers.
• Modern Analytics Engineering Practices: Familiarity with current best practices in analytics engineering.
• Metric Layer/Dimensional Modeling/Data Product Architecture (Plus): Experience with metric layers, dimensional modeling, or data product-oriented architectures is a significant advantage.

A challenging fulltime assignment in Utrecht, starting asap, initially for 5 months (end date December 18th 2026), for 24-40 hours per week. You will work 2 days per week from the office, and the rest from home. Zzp is not possible for this assignment, you will work via a flex-contract with Independent Recruiters, with a salary of €5500-€6500 gross per month, based on 40-hour work week.
