AI Engineer ENTRNCE

Please note that for this role we are searching for someone who is already living in the Netherlands and is work proficient in the use of the English language on B2 level but also speaks Dutch on B2 level.

The energy transition is impossible without you as an AI Engineer

The energy transition requires new ways of thinking-and building. At ENTRNCE you start with a market question, idea or customer challenge and quickly translate it into a working prototype. You are not a developer at arm’s length, but someone right in the middle of the problem.

Working within the proposition team, you collaborate closely with IT, business and market design colleagues. Together, you take successful prototypes further into production and contribute directly to solutions for grid congestion and flexibility markets. And as an AI Engineer, you will contribute by:

• Turning market questions and ideas into working prototypes—from first sketch to testable results in short iterations;

• Designing and building AI agents that can execute multi-step tasks reliably, using frameworks such as LangChain or LangGraph;

• Applying LLM techniques like prompt engineering, RAG and structured output to solve real-world problems;

• Iteratively testing and refining prototypes based on feedback from customers and market participants;

• Translating insights directly into improvements in your solutions;

• Thinking along about UX and usability—you build solutions that people actually understand and use;

• Contributing to the development of AI knowledge, tooling and best practices within ENTRNCE.

You will be working within ENTRNCE, one of Alliander’s venture companies. ENTRNCE develops Software as a Service platforms for energy and flexibility markets, contributing to the sustainable energy transition in the Netherlands and Europe.

Since 2017, ENTRNCE has been building and scaling decentralized energy markets, including local electricity exchanges and connections to flexibility markets of system operators. These solutions are essential to ensure the reliability and affordability of the future energy system.

You will join a highly entrepreneurial environment where experimentation, short cycles and ownership are key. Together, you work on solutions that directly impact how the energy system operates.

With your energy, you excel as an AI Engineer. You are curious, hands-on and driven to turn ideas into tangible results. You gain energy from building, testing and seeing real impact.You bring:

• Experience in Python and experience with data processing and analysis;

• Proven ability to turn ideas into working prototypes, with a strong focus on iteration and learning;

• Experience designing and building AI agents that execute multi-step tasks using tools and data (e.g. LangChain or LangGraph);

• Knowledge of LLM applications such as prompt engineering, RAG and structured output;

• Fluent English and at least B2-level Dutch, enabling you to switch between technical and stakeholder conversations;

• A strong intrinsic motivation to contribute to the energy transition and a more sustainable, reliable energy system.

For this role, based on a 40-hour workweek, you will receive:

• aligned with your knowledge and experience a gross salary of €4.672 tot €6.674 gross per month (scale 9);

• an Individual Choice Budget (IKB) of 18% or 12.8% of your gross annual salary;

• 24.5 vacation days, expandable via your IKB;

• a year-end bonus of 6% of your annual salary;

• a sustainable employability budget;

• hybrid working options.
