Volume production engineer - EUV Factory (EF)

Introduction to the job

The EUV Factory Production Engineering Volume (PE VOL) department is the driving engine for Continuous Improvement of ASML’s EUV Manufacturing and Installs. You’ll use your technical depth and problem‑solving skills to keep our state‑of‑the‑art EUV lithography systems flowing, and you’ll drive structural improvements to make tomorrow better than today.

Team & organization

You’ll join EF Production Engineering Volume department within the EUV Factory—organized by milestone teams with a scope span of make and/or install for NXE and EXE. In your day to day job you collaborate strongly with the shopfloor, FLS, TS, P&I and the PE NPI department to achieve your goals.

The Volume department ~120+ FTE is organized with a team focusing on Modules and another one on systems. The exact work scope will depend on which milestone team you will start (e.g. Source Build, Scanner Test, etc.). In the organization you will be reporting to a Grouplead and work in a team of ~15fte. The grouplead reports to a cluster manager which reports to the department manager.

Role & responsibilities

• Act as the direct counterpart for the shopfloor. Be available on the shopfloor joining daily standups and team up to tackle the challenges at hand. Own shopfloor issues via Daily Follow Up (DFU) process in order to restore flow with robust containments and structural solutions.

• Drive continuous improvement—optimize work instructions, sequences and tooling; reduce DN/MN recurrence; and contribute to EF improvement projects using Lean/Agile methodologies.

• Collaborate with the program via the milestone project lead to achieve the product roadmap targets on improvements. This includes reviewing design & procedure changes for manufacturability, safeguarding process readiness, and feeding upstream quality issues to D&E via Disturbance Review Board.

• Be the counterpart of PE NPI — contribute to deliverable readiness and safeguard a quality KD transfer from NPI towards Volume manufacturing.

• Safeguard quality & compliance— Champion in first‑time‑right execution, support MRB/traceability processes, and uphold ESD/Contamination/Safety standards in a cleanroom environment.

• Collaborate in competence chapters with First Line Support (FLS), Troubleshoot (TS) and New Product Introduction PE to tackle in depth competence related challenges.

What success looks like (PE drivers & example KPIs)

Volume Production engineers contribute to EF PE drivers— increase efficiency and quality, decrease cycle time and cost—through measurable improvements such as:  Driving DN/MN recurrence down, CT reduction, XLD prevention, Procedure quality up and safe, compliant execution.

Minimum qualifications

• BSc/MSc in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Industrial Engineer, Physics or similar engineering field.

• 2–5+ years of experience in high‑tech manufacturing, (opto‑)mechatronics, or complex system assembly/test; exposure to cleanroom production is a plus.

• Or 3+ years ASML relevant shopfloor experience.

Skills & mindset

• Structured problem solving (e.g., 5xWhy, Fishbone, 8D) and data‑driven decision making.

• Continuous improvement—Lean/Agile habits; standardization and waste reduction.

• Manufacturability & process engineering—procedures, sequences, routings, SPC/CT/FPY/ISR basics.

• Stakeholder collaboration across Manufacturing, FLS/TS, D&E, and Supply Chain; clear shopfloor communication.

• Safety & quality first—adherence to EHS, ESD, cleanliness standards, and documentation discipline.

Working conditions

Standard job is office based but cleanroom work at times (gowning required); hands on at the system when needed.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
