Role Description

In the context of an EU funded project, the Security Officer (SO) based in the Netherlands, will play an important role regarding day-to-day secure operation and execution of this project.

As a SO, you should have an understanding of potential security risks, excellent communication skills and should utilize your previous experience with secure handling of sensitive information, following specific security plans, to engage with various stakeholders both inside and outside the company. You are expected to work independently and be punctual with deadlines.

Relevant training on using security and encryption tools will be offered as part of your employment.

Key responsibilities

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Being the first point of contact on behalf of Optiphore for the relevant authorities, representing the company for all security aspects, being authorized to take the required measures and decisions.
• Day-to-day responsibility for the secure execution of the project.
• Drawing up, implementing and testing the necessary security plans.
• Where necessary, directly and independently advising the executive board about security matters.

Minimum qualifications

• Applicants must be Dutch Nationals.
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills.
• Team spirit.
• Fluent in Dutch and English (speaking and writing).
• Strong project management skills and ability to work independently and in teams, to set, manage, and meet goals.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in similar security related position.
• STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) degree.
• Experience with Cyber Security.
• Experience with handling documentation and establishing procedures.

Terms and Conditions

• Type of contract: fixed-term, part-time contract with the option to become indefinite.
• Reporting line: reports directly to the Managing Director.
• Expected starting date: March 2026.
