Making Waves is een ambitieus evenementenbureau dat hoogwaardige live-evenementen produceert. Voor ons marketingteam zoeken we iemand die strategisch sterk is en begrijpt hoe marketing werkt binnen een snel bewegende eventindustrie. Iemand die richting geeft, scherpe keuzes maakt en verantwoordelijkheid neemt voor de verdere groei van het team en de merken.

Making Waves is een ambitieuze evenementenorganisatie actief binnen de dance- en theatersector. Met merken als Cinema in Concert, ZeeZout, By the Creek en Ohm Festival produceren we uiteenlopende live-evenementen: van filmconcerten in Het Concertgebouw en grootschalige shows in Rotterdam Ahoy tot festivals, clubnachten en bijzondere cross-over events.

Vanuit Amsterdam werken we aan het creëren van onvergetelijke ervaringen. We ontwikkelen en produceren onze evenementen volledig in-house: van concept en productie tot marketing en boekingen. Gedreven door kwaliteit, creativiteit en een onderscheidende beleving.

Over de functie

Als Head of Marketing ben je eindverantwoordelijk voor de volledige marketingstrategie en performance van Making Waves. In het eerste jaar verwachten we dat je meer structuur brengt in campagneplanning, marketingperformance beter inzichtelijk maakt en het team helpt doorgroeien naar meer eigenaarschap en focus.

Je stuurt het marketingteam (8 FTE) aan, maar je rol gaat verder dan dat. Jij:

• bepaalt de koers
• maakt keuzes in waar we wel / niet op inzetten
• hebt een grote affiniteit met evenementen: dance en theater 
• brengt overzicht in een omgeving met meerdere merken en gelijktijdige campagnes
• spreekt mensen aan op output, gedrag en eigenaarschap
• zorgt dat marketing direct bijdraagt aan groei (tickets, merk, community)
• je zit dicht op de directie en bent sparringpartner op strategisch niveau

Wat ga je doen?

• Je geeft dagelijks leiding aan het marketing team (8 FTE) op kantoor
• Je brengt structuur in planning, processen en samenwerking
• Je bewaakt kwaliteit over alle merken en campagnes
• Je helpt het team groeien (coaching, feedback, verantwoordelijkheid)
• Je zorgt dat marketing meer datagedreven wordt (CRM, campagnes, learnings)
• Je bewaakt budgetten en marketing performance
• Je werkt nauw samen met MT, productie en creatives
• Je signaleert knelpunten en lost ze proactief op
• Je rapporteert aan directie 

Wat breng je mee?

• 7+ jaar ervaring in marketing (events/entertainment / agency is een pre)
• Aantoonbare ervaring met het leiden van een team
• Sterk strategisch inzicht én ability om dit te vertalen naar uitvoering
• Ervaring met performance marketing en data (CRM, funnels, analytics)
• Sterk in prioriteren, keuzes maken en overzicht houden
• Je durft beslissingen te nemen en mensen aan te spreken
• Je bent comfortabel met verantwoordelijkheid en druk
• Je hebt gevoel voor creatie, maar stuurt op resultaat

Je past minder goed als:

• Je vooral uitvoerend wilt werken
• Je conflicten of lastige gesprekken vermijdt
• Je moeite hebt met tempo en druk
• Je geen leiding wilt geven

About us

Making Waves is an ambitious events organisation active in the dance and theatre sectors. With brands like Cinema in Concert, ZeeZout, By the Creek and Ohm Festival, we produce a wide variety of live events: from film concerts in Het Concertgebouw and large-scale concerts in Rotterdam Ahoy to festivals, club nights and distinctive cross-over events.

From Amsterdam we create unforgettable experiences. We develop and produce our events fully in-house: from concept and production to marketing and bookings. Driven by quality, creativity and a distinctive audience experience.

About the role

As Head of Marketing, you will be ultimately responsible for the overall marketing strategy and performance of Making Waves. In your first year, we expect you to bring more structure to campaign planning, create clearer insights into marketing performance, and help the team grow towards greater ownership and focus.

You lead the marketing team (8 FTE), but your role goes beyond that. You:

• sets the strategic direction
• makes clear decisions on where to focus — and where not to
• brings structure and clarity to an environment with multiple brands and simultaneous campaigns
• holds people accountable for output, behavior, and ownership
• ensures marketing directly contributes to growth (ticket sales, brand strength, and community building)
• works closely with the directors and acts as a strategic sparring partner at management level

What will you do?

• Lead the marketing team on a daily basis (8 FTE)
• Bring structure to planning, processes, and collaboration
• Safeguard quality across all brands and campaigns
• Support the team’s growth through coaching, feedback, and clear ownership
• Drive a more data-driven approach to marketing (CRM, campaigns, insights, and learnings)
• Oversee budgets and marketing performance
• Work closely with management, production, and creative teams
• Identify bottlenecks and proactively solve problems
• Report directly to the leadership team

What do you bring?

• 7+ years of experience in marketing (experience in events, entertainment, or agencies is a strong plus)
• Proven experience leading and managing teams
• Strong strategic thinking combined with the ability to translate strategy into execution
• Experience with performance marketing and data-driven marketing (CRM, funnels, analytics)
• Strong prioritization skills and the ability to maintain oversight
• Confidence in making decisions and holding people accountable
• Comfortable working with responsibility and pressureA strong creative sense, while always steering towards results
• Fluent in Dutch and English
