About the role

As a Group Director Accounting & Reporting you will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and you will be a key member of the senior finance leadership team, responsible for safeguarding the integrity of BME Group’s financial reporting across all Operating Companies. This role leads the accounting and reporting function at group level, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant internal and external financial reporting in line with IFRS, local GAAP, and Group policies.

Furthermore, the Group Director Accounting & Reporting oversees the Group consolidation and reporting systems, drives quality and insight in financial management information, and maintains robust financial governance and internal control. The role partners closely with senior management and investors, supporting strategic initiatives such as M&A integration, refinancing, and portfolio optimization.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all aspects of financial reporting and consolidation for BME and its Operating Companies, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with statutory and management requirements.
• Oversee the ongoing development, optimization, and governance of financial reporting and consolidation systems to ensure consistency, transparency, and scalability.
• Deliver high-quality monthly and quarterly management reports, including KPI dashboards, variance analyses.
• Act as the first point of contact for external audit on Group reporting and consolidation matters.
• Manage statutory accounting, audit processes, and regulatory compliance across all jurisdictions, coordinating effectively between Group Finance, local finance teams, and external auditors.
• Maintain a robust internal control environment, aligned with best practice and governance requirements, ensuring continuous monitoring and improvement of financial risk management.
• Provide technical accounting support to OpCo finance teams and ensure consistent application of Group policies and accounting principles.
• Support financial reporting processes around business planning, forecasting, and performance control.
• Partner with Internal Audit to maintain a robust internal control framework and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Review and discuss financial results with the Group CFO, senior management, and shareholders (e.g., Blackstone).
• Advise senior management on finance-related aspects of IT strategy and implementation, ensuring alignment with financial control and reporting requirements.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of reporting and accounting professionals across Group and OpCo’s, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Oversee accounting and reporting implications of acquisitions, integrations, and divestments, including purchase price allocation, valuation, and post-deal accounting processes.

Your profile

• 10+ years of progressive experience in Accounting & Reporting, including leadership roles at group or corporate level in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
• University/ Post graduate degree in Economics, Finance, or Business Administration.
• Fully qualified financial professional (CPA or equivalent).
• Expert knowledge of accounting and reporting standards, laws, and regulations.
• Experience in restructuring, refinancing, or PE-backed environments is a strong advantage.
• Exposure to industries such as distribution, logistics, or manufacturing preferred.
• International experience and proven ability to operate effectively in a matrix organization.
• A stable career track with clear career progression within a limited number of employers.
• Fluent in English; fluency in German or Dutch is an advantage.
