The Opportunity

A small and growing infrastructure team in Noord-Holland is looking for an experienced Freelance Civil / Infrastructure Engineer (ZZP) to support a diverse portfolio of municipal and industrial projects. You will play a key, hands-on role in both design and execution, helping to manage workload while contributing to the controlled growth of the infrastructure department.

You’ll be part of an infrastructure team of 6 colleagues , working from within the Noord-Holland region, and typically handling 3–4 projects simultaneously . Projects range from municipal street redevelopments to industrial site infrastructure.

What Does the Position Entail?

As a freelance Civil Engineer, you advise clients and independently manage infrastructure projects from quotation through to delivery . Your work covers the full breadth of civil infrastructure design.

Your responsibilities include:

• Advising clients on infrastructure design for industrial areas, new residential developments, and the redevelopment of streets and intersections.
• Being part of the team that is designing and engineering roads, pavements, bicycle paths, roundabouts, sewer systems, rainwater collection, underground cables and pipelines, and site preparation works.
• Working independently and within multidisciplinary project teams on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Conducting site visits, measurements, and client meetings.
• Developing, coordinating, and supervising infrastructural designs.
• Writing technical specifications and preparing budgets, quotations, and project documentation.
• Presenting practical, realistic solutions and implementing them in consultation with clients.
• Delivering projects on time, within scope, and to agreed quality standards.

Your Profile

• 5–10 years of experience in Civil / Infrastructure Engineering.
• A true all-rounder: comfortable with both design work and site execution .
• Experience with municipal infrastructure projects is strongly preferred.
• Used to managing multiple projects independently.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proactive, organised, and client-oriented.
• Dutch language proficiency is required (spoken and written).
• Available for full-time, on-site work in Noord-Holland.
• Registered ZZP’er with the right to work in the Netherlands.

Education & Technical Skills

• Solid engineering experience in the civil infrastructure sector
• Experience with (3D) drawing and design software:
• Civil 3D (strong advantage)
• AutoCAD (strong advantage)

Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)

• Experience with industrial clients (e.g. food & agriculture, oil & gas).
• Knowledge of national infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with advanced civil/infrastructure modelling and site preparation techniques.
